When handling loads with
knuckle boom cranes and truck-mounted cranes, knowing the load weight is the starting point. Safe lifting also depends on the sling configuration, the center of gravity, and controlled movements.
The
sling angle affects the tension in each sling leg. Uneven weight distribution can create unequal loading, while acceleration and sudden stops introduce dynamic forces into the lifting system.
That’s why
lift planning must account for the load, lifting points, the crane’s load chart, and the working load limits of rigging equipment in the actual configuration. Slings, hooks, shackles, and lifting beams must be selected for the application and used according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
